A little more about the Derby: 


The Kentucky Derby is a Grade I stakes race for three year-old Thoroughbred horses, held
annually in Louisville, Kentucky, on the first Saturday in May, capping the two week-long
Kentucky Derby Festival. The race is one and a quarter miles at Churchill Downs. The race is
known in the United States as "The Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports" for its approximate
duration, and is also called "The Run for the Roses" for the blanket of roses draped over the
winner.


So what can I say, grab your floppy hats, and let's toast with a mint julip!  It's off to the races!  Let the betting begin!

The silent auction room was filled with great items.....We loved (as always) the "Barrel of Wish Spirits" and the Eagles Hotel California Guitar!

Guests of honor included two very special wish kids, and their parents!  Emma Wilcox spoke very eloquently about her wish and what Make-A-Wish means to her. :)

And sweet Daniel Moseley was a superstar as he helped draw door prizes all night!

Hello friends!  We're going to use this blog as we plan our 3rd Annual Evening of Wishes fundraiser to keep you updated on the latest information.  Feel free to leave comments and questions here, and someone will respond to you asap! 

General Info.....

Who: 

The Columbus Partnership Board of Make-A-Wish(R) Georgia is thrilled to be planning this fundraiser for the third year in a row!  Anyone is welcome to attend the Evening of Wishes!  (Let's keep it over 21 please, adult beverages will be served.)  This is NOT an invitation only event, and we hope you spread the word!

What: 

Evening of Wishes is a Dinner and Silent Auction fundraiser, filled with live entertainment, great door prizes, and much more.

When:

Thursday, November 8, 2012

6pm Cocktails
7pm Dinner

Where:

We are so excited to be back at Green Island Country Club (6501 Standing Boy Road, Columbus, GA)

Why: 

Did you know through Make-A-Wish, a child's wish is granted every 23 minutes?  And the average cost of those wishes are $8,000?  Currently in our Columbus area, there are 12 children waiting to have there wish come true!

This is an amazing opportunity for our local community to make wishes come true for children in our very own area!  All net proceeds from an Evening of Wishes will benefit our local Make-A-Wish Georgia Chapter!
